North Alabama Track Clubs - 2004

The following list of track clubs that operate in North Alabama is provided here to assist those looking for coaching and support in the pursuit of track and field competition or technique improvement. Now is the time to identify a team and coach for the summer season. Some of these clubs operate all year. Our club, the Huntsville Track Club, has one track meet in July, but does not offer coaching. Fortunately, our area is blessed with several track clubs that prepare athletes for track and field events and take teams to meets. These clubs attend both USA Track & Field and AAU meets. Updates to the club listing can be given to Steve Rice (880-9374) or to the newsletter editor. If interested, call the coaches and ask them about their programs and discuss your goals. The track and field clubs are listed in alphabetical order.

Huntsville Metro Track Club

Clientele: Serious track and field athletes, including cross-country, road racing, and multi-events

Season: Cross-country - September-November; Outdoor Track - March-July;

Speed camp – on special request

Cost: $150-235 for advanced athletes, according to age and season; Regular club fee $40 for youth 6-17 years; fee covers club membership and USATF and AAU fees. Uniform, meet entry fees, travel, and lodging expenses are joint effort of athlete, parents, and/or club. Athletes can earn $100 by participating in club fundraisers. Parents must participate in fundraisers.

Mercury Alabama Track Club

Clientele: Athletes for all track and field events, including race walk and multi-event (decathlon and heptathlon); all ages through adults; coach has equipment for all events

Season: Year-round

Cost: $25 for uniform; association fees (USATF, AAU); meet entry fees; travel expenses.

North Alabama Trackers

Season: May - July

Cost: $200-400 for association fee, meet entry fees, travel expenses.

Season: June-August, ending with AAU Championships
