HTC Business Meeting – 15 January 2008

Board Members Present: David Purinton (President), Harold Tinsley (VP-Communications), Craig Armstrong (VP-Races & Equipment), Kathy Youngren (Treasurer), Dink Taylor (Appointed Member—Cotton Row Run Director), Suzanne Taylor (Appointed Member—Rocket City Marathon Director)

Also present were approximately 25 Huntsville Track Club Members and guests.

The annual business meeting was held at Logan’s Roadhouse on Balmoral Drive. The meeting was called to order at 6:05PM by President David Purinton. Suzanne Taylor introduced several people from the Huntsville Police Department who then presented their ideas for a Fallen Officer’s Police Memorial. Some questions were posed by club members and Purinton stated that a possible partnership would be investigated at an upcoming board meeting to determine how the club might become involved in this endeavor.

The meeting was then turned over to Gary Grace who served as the chairman of the nomination committee. He briefly explained the process and read through the list of candidates. There being no nominations from the floor a motion was made and seconded that the candidates be accepted. This motion was passed unanimously by those members present. The 2008-2009 HTC Executive Board will be comprised of President – David Purinton, VP-Programs – Ashley Cain, VP-Races & Equipment – Eric Charette, VP-Communications – Harold Tinsley, Secretary – Anne Park, and Treasurer – Kathy Youngren. Purinton thanked Craig Armstrong for his hard work and contributions while serving on the board and welcomed Eric Charette as a new board member.

Treasurer Kathy Youngren next presented a yearly club financial report. The club is doing financially very well. While race income was down some in 2007, so were expenses. A secretaries report was not given due to the absence of the club secretary.

Next Dink Taylor and David Purinton presented a slide show covering their trip in the fall of 2007 to Osaka, Japan to attend the IAAF World Championship Track and Field Meet. They talked about their time in Japan, what they saw, and impressions they formed while there.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 7:57 PM.
