General Club Information


Everyone, members and nonmembers, are welcome at all Huntsville Track Club (HTC) meetings and racing events. The Club encourages those who have an interest in the sport and wish to support the sport and gain the benefits of belonging to the Huntsville Track Club to become members. The Huntsville Track Club is for everyone; from the serious competitor to the casual jogger, as a race volunteer/official or as a spectator. As a HTC member you automatically become a member of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) and will receive their publication FOOTNOTES and the benefits of being a member of our national organization. Most of all the HTC member receives the satisfaction of helping to further a worthy and healthful activity. It is not necessary to possess special skills or qualifications to be an HTC member. WHY JOIN THE HTC

·         Upon joining the Huntsville Track Club you will receive via mail a Welcome and Information Letter and your Membership Card/s for identification as an HTC member and to receive discounts at participating businesses.

·         You will also receive a copy of the HTC Handbook and various other pertinent items.

·         You will be included on the HTC mailing list to receive the club's award winning 50 plus page bi-monthly newsletter, the HTC NEWS.

·         You will be put on the mailing list to receive the RRCA quarterly newsletter Footnotes.

·         You will also be mailed the Rocket City Marathon Information Book and Results Book.

·         You will be mailed race entry forms and meeting notices, and invited to attend HTC meetings where you can meet other runners.

·         You can purchase HTC logo apparel at races, meetings or via mail.

·         Members who finish in the top 10 open or masters at designated HTC races will be automatically scored for the HTC Grand Prix.

·         You will be eligible to be nominated for the Annual HTC Awards, apply for an HTC Scholarship, compete on HTC teams, and run for office.

·         As a club volunteer you can earn Worker Coupons each worth a $2 discount for HTC races and 25% off the HTC membership fee.

·         All members joining the Huntsville Track Club for the first time are provided a coupon that provides free entry to one of the organizations events listed on the coupon. For additional information on this benefit, which can save you the cost of joining and even more than the membership cost for family memberships, read topic "3.5.13 Coupon Policy for New Members" in the HTC Handbook that will be in your New Member Packet when you join.

·         The HTC is a non-profit organization of more than a thousand members and one of the 30 largest clubs in the nation. By becoming a member you add to the persuasive and/or bargaining power your local and national club needs to obtain governmental and organizational support as well as influence sponsors to support the events in which you participate.

·         Being a member gives you the opportunity to give something back to the sport and the satisfaction that you are building the foundation and opportunities that encourages others to take up a healthful lifestyle.

·         The cost for joining the HTC is well below that of equivalent clubs and a lot less than the benefits you will receive and the value your being a member is to the sport.

HUNTSVILLE TRACK CLUB PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES

The purpose and objectives of the Huntsville Track Club are the promotion of jogging, road racing, trail running, triathlons, marathons, cross country and track and field for recreation, fitness and competition in the Huntsville area by:

·         Stimulating the interest of the people in healthful participation in scheduled and non-scheduled events.

·         Establishing an effective means of communications for the transmission of useful ideas whereby coaches, athletes and citizens will be informed of the latest sports information.

·         Giving prompt attention to valid suggestions on how to improve administration and conduct of track & field and running events.

·         Creating and maintaining research projects that will benefit all interested parties.

·         Training and certifying competent track & field, cross country and road race officials.

·         Financing improvements in the sport and in raising money for that purpose. Establish a scholarship fund.

·         To conscientiously plan and prepare athletes for regional, national and international competition through the best available coaching, careful scheduling of workouts and meets and proper travel, housing and food arrangements.

·         Unifying and coordinating the efforts of all agencies interested in furthering track and field, cross country, jogging and road racing in our area and allowing all interested parties to have a voice in the development of the sport in our area.

·         Aiding and encouraging the establishment of cross-country, track and field programs in the area schools.

·         Aiding in the improvement of established programs in the area schools for such sports.

  • Providing a competitive program for individuals, particularly those who have no other opportunity for competition.
