BOARD ELECTION NOTICE FOR
2003
At this time, the nominating committee of
the RRCA is advising member clubs of the following director positions up for
election:
Western Director
Southern Director
At-Large Director
At-Large Director
At Large Director
Elections
will be held at the annual business meeting at the 2003 RRCA national
convention in Washington, DC, April 3-5, 2003.
TERMS
OF OFFICE
The RRCA constitution and bylaws
provide for splitting the officers and directors into two groups of five
positions each, with a Secretary/Treasurer appointed by the President. Group I (President, Vice President,
Eastern Director, Central Director and one At-Large Director) took office in
June 2002. Therefore, Group II
is up for election at this time and will serve from June 2003 through May 2005.
NOMINATING
PROCEDURE
Officer and director nominations are
covered in the (2001) RRCA Constitution. Candidates may be nominated by a third
party as long as indication of a willingness to serve by the nominee
accompanies the nomination, or individuals may nominate themselves. Candidates
must state the position for which they are running and provide a written
statement to that effect. Candidates
must provide an outline of appropriate qualifications.

ELIGIBILITY
REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for nomination as an
officer or director a nominee must have been a member of the RRCA for at least six
months immediately preceding nomination.
In addition a prospective nominee shall (a) demonstrate a committment
to distance running through prior service to the sport or demonstrated
expertise in one or more areas of need; (b) be able to focus with a broad,
long-range scope at a multitude of issues and not just single issues or events
or short-term solutions; (c) be able to participate assertively in deliberation
with respect and tolerance for divergent opinions and ideas; and (d) be willing
to share power and delegate tasks.
Regional Directors must be from the
region from which they are running.
NOMINATIONS
The nominating committee, appointed
by President Freddi Carlip, will review all nominations. A report to the clubs will be prepared and
posted with the notice of the annual meeting in spring 2003.
The names and qualifications of eligible
nominees can be submitted by RRCA clubs or individual RRCA members, and may
include eligible incumbents. Deadline
for nominations is January 15, 2003.

Following the report of the
nominating committee at the convention, nominations of qualified individuals
can be proposed from the floor, provided the nominee's written consent has been
obtained or the nominee is present to offer consent at the meeting.
ELECTION
Each contested position shall be
voted on separately by eligible delegates present at the convention (or their
proxies) and will be filled by the candidate receiving the majority of the
votes cast.
